Sapphire
This stone is quite durable; treat it as you would treat a diamond.
Most people relate Sapphire to the color Blue, but its available in many other colors: ink, Golden, Green, peachy Orange, purple and colorless. These are also color change Sapphires; those are the ones which have two colors which are distinct when the light source is changed from fluorescent to incandescent.
Sapphires are used to aid in prophecy and the different colors can also be used to balance the Chakras that relate to the specific colors they are used for.
Selenite
Treat this gemstone as you would any other quartz type of stone, but don’t wash it in water. Just wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Water will dissolve this stone.
This is a wonderful stone to use to help remove emotional turmoil and confusion. It is also used to clarify awareness and helps you reach higher states of consciousness.
Selenite is thought to protect against Electro Magnetic Files, to treat cancer pain, and as an anti-inflammatory. It is also thought to be a keeper of ancient information.
Smoky Quartz
Care for your smoky quartz the same as you would a clear or rose quartz. These are gorgeous and very trendy right now as they look very similar to chocolate diamonds, without the large price.
This stone stimulates and purifies the root Chakra. It has a relaxing effect, helping to block negativity, and aiding in meditation. It also helps develop ones latent abilities as a Channel, or Medium.
It is believed to help one come to terms with their own circumstances, becoming more acceptant of their own bodies and lives. It stimulates pride, self respect and self esteem. Smoky Quartz is especially useful for grounding and draining away negative energy.
Sodalite
Sodalite should be protected from extreme temperatures. It's easy to clean with a damp cloth.
This gemstone is used for healing of emotions and the physical body. It is an aid to transformation when used in meditation.
It is especially valuable for those who find themselves in states of mental confusion, especially when these states are intensified by emotional turmoil.
Sugilite
This hypnotizing stone is one of the newest and rarest gemstone minerals known to man. Clean with a soft cloth, and protect it from chipping or cracks.
Its rich shades of purple instantly made it a highly sought after and revered gemstone. Many have hailed Sugilite as the gem of the "New Age." Sugilite helps us to see the beliefs which can create emotional limitation and physical imbalance. This helps to break up those beliefs on the mental plane, thus stopping them from continuing to send limiting messages to the body.
Sunstone
This gemstone is also known as Sunspar. Treat it gently and wipe clean with a soft cloth. This is a stone that becomes more brilliant the more you wear it.
It is used for reduction of fear of all kinds. It has been used by Canadian Indians in Medicine rituals to help the spirit guides access the healing power of the Sun. When contact with the spirit guides was successful, the stone was said to glow a bright golden.
The Greeks used it on goblets to prevent poisoning. They believed Sunstone improved the life force, increased vitality and brought plenty to any who wore it. It creates a positive atmosphere, lifts depression and is like a sunny day for the emotions.
Thanks for another edition of Gemstones. I didn't know sapphires came in many colours. The blue one in the Hub is gorgeous.
I have truly enjoyed reading this series and hope to get some gemstones to put round the house, now that I know they have benefits e.g positive energy etc. I thought they were just for "bling bling". lol
Thanks. :)
